WHY LEARN ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY IN HIGH SCHOOL?
Most of society's challenging problems -- including crime, poverty, prejudice, violence, land environmental sustainability -- are related to human attitudes, values, and behavior. Psychological science, in collaboration with other scientific fields, informs our understanding of these problems and their solutions. Considering that psychology has the potential to benefit society and improve people's lives, an introduction too psychological science merits inclusion in the high school curriculum. You will be able to apply knowledge gained from an introductory psychology course to your daily lives.
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of the mind and behavior. In this course you will be introduced to the scientific method and the core ideas and theories of psychology. As a result, you will gain an understanding of the complexities and diversity of human thought and behavior.
